Paw Paw / 婆婆 character design (Jun 2020) Originally this was my Leader character design for ArtStation's Box of Mystery Challenge during mid 2020 but I withdrew from the competition and did it at my own pace instead. I didn't want to rush it. This is my favourite character out of the 6 I made!! It felt like I spent more time on this one than the other 5 that didn't resonate with me as much :< Character designing is hard .___. I don't feel enough to be a character designer - I can't create lots of character concepts regularly as it's super intense & draining. The pressure for quality and quantity within a deadline is daunting :< I enjoy designing better if I resonate with it! And hyperfocusing and iterating on a few designs I like at my own slow pace. It's a lot of trying to find something I'm excited about :0 I'm afraid so I just call myself a character illustrator - less intimidating self expectations that way! :') For those who enjoy drawing/creating characters - which do you enjoy and lean more towards?
